Retail Dietitians Accept FMI Gold Plate Honors During FMI Connect
FMI recently announced the recipients of their annual Gold Plate Awards, which highlight outstanding programs FMI members have implemented to encourage family meals. Two programs spearheaded by retail dietitians were recognized this year:
Weis Markets Healthy Bites: Gold Plate Award Winner Weis Markets puts tremendous effort into making family meals easier and healthier with a company-wide, comprehensive, multi-media program of meal solutions, recipes and healthy eating advice that centers on a 16-page fully customized magazine both in print and online. Karen Buch, RD, LDN, Director of Lifestyle Initiatives for Weis Markets and RDBA Advisory Board Member, accepted the Gold Plate Award on behalf of Weis Markets.
Price Chopper Family Meals Matter: Since winning a Gold Plate Award last year, Price Chopper has attracted new community partners and grown the program, and received an Gold Plate honorable mention. Helping families find solutions that are quick, healthy and budget-friendly has been central to the Family Meals Matter program since its creation in 2008. The education and outreach program promotes the idea that all mealtimes can be family mealtimes. Outreach components include recipes, coupons, food demonstrations, informational tips and giveaways. Ellie Wilson, MS, RD, Senior Nutritionist for Price Chopper and RDBA Member accepted the award on behalf of Price Chopper.
Congratulations to all of the Gold Plate Award recipients for your innovative efforts to support family meals.
