Webinar Date: September 18, 2018 - 03:00 pm EST

Join Jessica Brady of Okanagan Specialty Fruits as she discusses how biotechnology has come to be acknowledged as an important plant breeding tool with positive impacts on farmers, consumers and the environment. This webinar provides a look at what bioengineered food is, and how it benefits the supply chain using non-browning Arctic® apples as a case study.  This presentation will also include background on what a bioengineered food is, regulations in place to ensure safety of bioengineered crops, and the future of bioengineered foods.

Presenter:  Jessica Brady hails from a farm in Canada’s prairie region. She has been with Okanagan Specialty Fruits for 2 years and is currently in the role of Manager, Industry Relations and Education. Jessica first gained an appreciation for agriculture while working with large animals in high school and went on to complete her undergraduate and master’s degrees in agriculture at the University of Manitoba. As a town kid, learning more about agriculture made her realise how much misinformation there is about how our food is grown, and has worked to dispel agriculture myths ever since. Jessica is passionate about sharing the story of agriculture, and loves science, her dog, and nature.
