RDBA Launches New Education: Food Rx Podcast and Food Waste EduTrac®

With focus on timely topics we know are of interest to your shoppers, the Retail Dietitians Business Alliances announces the launch of two new educational resources: a podcast on food prescription programs and an EduTrac® from No Taste for Waste.

No Taste for Waste: Farmers, Retailers and Consumers Working Together to Combat Food Waste

Across the food supply chain, there are various points at which food is lost or wasted. During this EduTrac® online education module, an overview of food waste at all steps in the supply chain are addressed. Examples of how farmers, food processors and others are minimizing food loss and waste are detailed. Retail RDs are encouraged to assess current practices at their retailer to manage loss and waste as well as to create strategies to educate shoppers on food waste. This online education module has been approved for one continuing education credit for dietetics professionals.

Food Rx Programs: A Prescription for Success at Retailer?

Food prescription programs are a growing trend across the retail industry, promoting produce through partnerships with health care and non-profit organizations. During this podcast, Jillian Griffith MSPH, RDN, LDN, In-store Nutritionist at Giant and Lorena Kaplen, RDN, LDN, West Regional Dietitian for H-E-B discuss their retailers’ experiences with food prescription programs. Hosted by RDBA Executive Director Annette Maggi, MS, RDN, LD, FAND, topics discussed include funding strategies and partnerships, retail logistics for program implementation, scalability and longevity of programs, and the value of food Rx programs.
