Research conducted earlier this year by HubSpot found that individuals watch an average of 1.5 hours of video content every day. Given the choice, 72% of consumers would rather learn about a new product via video than text, and 83% consider sharing a video with friends.
Understanding the power of video in helping shoppers select nutritious products and live healthier lives, retail RDs are quickly becoming expert in Facebook Live and other video presentations. The “I’m a Blenditarian Because. . .” contest, sponsored by The Mushroom Council, provided retail RDs with an opportunity to showcase their expertise using video as an education and inspiration tool.
Facebook Live videos created by contest entrants reached more than 28,000 individuals with education on how to make “The Blend.” A random drawing amongst all those who entered the contest was held, and Jena Woods, MS, RDN, LDN from ShopRite of West Chester was selected as the winner of a $1,000 continuing education stipend.
