Taking Sides: Should Country-of-Origin Labeling (COOL) of Meat be Mandatory?

The country-of-origin labeling rules were modified by USDA last year in order for the U.S. to meet its obligation to global trading partners. Under recently enacted rules, meat labels must specify where livestock was born, raised and slaughtered, and the commingling of different country-of-origin combinations is prohibited. But opponents hope COOL will be repealed.
